Who am I?
There are three main parts to me, my inner professional, my inner hobbyist and my inner student.
A couple of weeks ago my fellow colleagues tried to describe me in a single word. My work colleagues all agreed that the word for me was "devoted". For me work is about doing what I am good at and proving my worth in doing so. At work my skills lie in creative computing, team leadership, efficient administration and IT training. I have developed a Customer Relationship Management system, new ways of processing invoices from suppliers and whole IT training programmes. My inner hobbyist is always looking to learn. I do Salsa, I play guitar and I'm particularly interested in water sports such as wakeboarding. I am also quite spiritual and interested in the Chinese religious practices of Daoism and Buddhism. I learn T'ai Chi, Yoga, meditation and I enjoy spending time with my friends who all have particularly unique spiritual practices also.
My inner student is always looking to learn new things. Law, Politics, Sociology, Theology, Philosophy, Science, Psychology and Education. I have too many books to fit on my shelves which is what happens when you volunteer at Oxfam for over 3 years. I always see books popping through the shop which I want to buy and end up buying them faster than I can read them. Right now my focus is literary criticism of the Old Testament and I hope to take up the study of the Greek philosopher Plato.
